Root canal treatment in Fort Worth, TX
Planned with 3D cone-beam imaging and performed under thorough anaesthetic — the treatment that saves the tooth rather than losing it.
Protecting teeth from infection and tooth loss
Your teeth have three main components: enamel, the hard protective outer layer; dentin, a softer layer beneath it; and the pulp, the delicate tissue at the centre carrying the nerves and blood supply.
Normally the pulp is protected by enamel and dentin. When bacteria reach it through deep cavities, fractures or injury, infection follows — and it does not resolve on its own. Root canal treatment eliminates that infection and preserves the natural tooth.
That matters, because losing the tooth brings its own problems: bone loss where the root used to be, and neighbouring teeth shifting into the space.

Signs you may need a root canal
If any of these sound familiar, call us rather than waiting it out.
- A severe, persistent toothache
- Intense sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers after the source is removed
- Gums that are puffy, red or swollen around one tooth
- Discomfort or inflammation in the jaw
- A bump on the gum that looks like a pimple
- An unpleasant taste or odour in the mouth
What actually happens during treatment
Root canals have a reputation they no longer deserve. Our clinic uses advanced 3D cone-beam (CBCT) imaging to plan the treatment before we start, which removes most of the uncertainty that used to make these appointments unpredictable.
That imaging lets us assess the tooth’s internal structure in three dimensions — including the number, curvature and position of the canals — and tailor the procedure to your specific anatomy rather than working blind.
The infected pulp is removed, the canal system is cleaned and disinfected, and the space is sealed. In most cases the tooth is then restored with a crown to take the force of your bite.
We take your anxiety seriously
Before beginning, your Fort Worth dentist administers a potent local anaesthetic to ensure the tooth is fully numb. You should not feel pain during treatment — and if you do, we stop and address it.
If dental anxiety is a real barrier for you, we offer oral sedation to help you feel at ease throughout the procedure. Tell us in advance and we will plan the appointment around it.
Root canal FAQs
Is a root canal painful?
The procedure itself is done under thorough local anaesthetic and should not hurt. Most patients find the pain of the infected tooth beforehand far worse than anything during treatment.
Will I need a crown afterwards?
Usually, yes. A treated tooth has lost internal structure and is more prone to fracture, so a crown protects it and restores full chewing function.
How long does a root-canalled tooth last?
With a well-fitted crown placed promptly and good ongoing hygiene, a treated tooth can last for many years. Delaying the crown is one of the most common reasons treatment fails later.
